Best Kept Village 2015
2015 BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION
HEDGERLEY – TINDALL CUP
Judges’ comments on Hedgerley
- The St. Mary’s church graveyard presented well and the grounds are managed.
- The green is a well maintained large open area with several benches and good litter bin provision. An established fenced play area sited on the green is tidy and clean.
- It was good to see Glebe Field becoming more established and maturing well. The Memorial Hall surrounds were well managed and clean and tidy.
- The pond is undergoing remedial maintenance to the railings situated by the road boundary which is very much work in progress. Nevertheless the area looked natural with diverse planting. The area in front of the shops was impressive and well maintained enhanced by walled beds of shrubs. The White Horse public house had a good variety of planters and baskets, full of colour, on display. The wooden bus shelter had small planters and flowers at either end. There was no litter present at these locations.
- The Parish noticeboard was newsworthy and up to date with a Best Kept Village notice on display. The Memorial Hall noticeboard had events and classes advertised for community participation.
- A well prepared indicative map was provided for the panel’s use. Clearly a good sense of community is evident within this village.
